Planning a wedding is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be! However, it has been a lot of fun! The one thing that I am struggling with is finding a reception place that fits what we are looking for. We are thinking of having a garden reception but would like to go to a place that we can go inside as well in case of rain or bad weather. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them!
Also, I am looking for a place to make my cake. I already know what I want, but I dont know where to go. If anyone has ideas or has had good experiences, let me know!
The other plans are coming along really well! We are getting so excited! More details to come....

Humm.. I will be thinking about a location. As for a cake, I LOVED working with Granite Bakery. They really were great!
What is the exact date again? I didn't write it down!
SO excited for you!
AH! I still can't believe you are getting married! A couple places I have been that have great indoor/outdoor receptions are The Memorial House in Memory Grove (so pretty with cute tables outside, and darling at night with lights lighting the whole park), Tuscany (kinda pricey, but the backyard place is gorgeous) or you can always do a fun park with a big white tent. I also loved working with Schmidts Bakery... I had a design I wanted for my cake and they matched it perfectly! Good luck girl!
I got my cake made by the "Cake Lady" She is in Murray I believe. Its like a mom and pap business but she's gotten national recognition for her work. If you are interested look at my facebook pictures and let me know if you want her info. Good luck. The cake was DELICIOUS and my favorite part of my whole wedding.
Melissa- I am so excited you are getting married, you are going to be such a beautiful bride. My idea for you for location is Red Butte Garden- http://www.redbuttegarden.org/private-rental/weddingslideshow. And I loved the lady who did my cake if I can think of her name I will let you know. Good Luck with Planning!

I ran across your blog when I found you on Mary's. Congratulations on the engagement and what a cute way to propose. Planning will be stressful but also the most fun part, besides the actual wedding of course.
It can be stressful, but just enjoy it! I would suggest Snow Basin. Tay and I had our reception there and of course I thought it was beautiful and perfect. We were outside and inside. It was great. But I can talk to you more in detail when I see you next. I also loved my cake lady. I can't remember her name, but I am sure my mom has all of the details. Have fun!
Congrats Melissa! I am so excited for you! Can't wait to meet him... love ya TIFFANY
you prob remember that me and 3 of my sisters got married within one year. we ALL used carries cakes for our cake because it's amazing! we all had such different cakes and they were so good, that's my suggestion
My aunt makes wedding cakes and is amazing!! She has a contract with Sundance and Aspen Grove but books them privately as well. Her prices are reasonable and she can do ANYTHING you want her to do. Her name is Marilyn Jenkins and her number is 801-224-4086. She works out of her home in Orem but can deliver to SLC or anywhere you want her to.
I wish you could have seen my friend Malorie's wedding. You would have LOVED it!!! It seriously felt like I walked into anthropology. It was adorable! I'm talkin' old fashioned type writer on the table next to where you'd sign in, newspaper bows on the back of chairs, cute little antique looking forks dipped in glitter holding vintage style pictures of the couple...way cute!
