The last week and a half has been upsetting to say the least. Lots of different experiences have been going on, but it has been exciting and edgy and you just never really know what is going to happen in apartment 418... or should I say 411? Last week was challenging. I found out I have an ulcer in my eye (yeah, I didnt know it was possible either) and I was pretty distraught about the whole situation. My doctor (who, by the way, is absolutely wonderful and I really like going to him) told me I was not going to be putting contacts in my eyes for at least a week and it broke my heart. I had to do everything possible not to cry in front of him right there. Naturally, I was scared that I would lose partial eyesight or something horrific would happen to me because of this ulcer that had been "smouldering" (as Dr. Smith put it) in my eye for months... I know. I try to be tough sometimes, mostly when I need to be in the dr office getting the help that my poor little eye needed. It sounds pretty ridiculous, but really, I didnt think that the light sensitivity was anything to be insanely worried about. So, now here I am with an ulcer in my eye, waiting for the day I can put my contacts back in and really see the world for what it is, rather then the glared out/incorrect lense prescription that I have been living with since a week ago saturday. Well, that news was something I was dealing with pretty well... and then thursday I came home from practice and was talking on the phone with my good friend mark (we actually call him Mysterious Mark, but that story is for another day and time) but as I was talking with mysterious Mark, I heard a very loud noise, something relevant to an explosion of sorts. I looked outside the door of my room to see what in the world my roommate Melissa could possibly be concocting in the kitchen and, to my surprise and hers, there was water leaking out of the bottom of our wall. I immediately started screaming (naturally) and hung up on Mark (sorry mark!!) and preceeded to run out to the dining area where Melissa had previously been working studiously on her homework for the evening only to be interupted by a sudden burst of water, shooting through out wall. This was no small leak, but a fire hidrant of sorts. Powerful water was shooting through our wall as Melissa and I continued to scream "WHAT SHOULD WE DO!!! WHO DO WE CALL" We are mere girls, not firemen or plumbers who can halt water by staring at it. I began to search frantically for the emergency maintenance number only to discover by calling it that it was no longer in service. AHHHHH! seriously??? After contemplating any further phone calls, the only thing I could think of was to run to the office and have them call the maintenance people. The water continued to burst through the wall as Melissa and I continued to pick all of mine and our other roommate, Dani's, belongings off the floor. The water was steadily streaming into our rooms, conveniently stearing clear of Melissa's room, since she has the spacious master bedroom with its own luxurious size closet and bathroom. Disasters always know to leave the head honcho clear out of its line of destruction. When the maintenance men finally arrived the apartment was past any hope of salvation. The little pond that had formed was spreading throughout the entire place, surprisingly avoiding the couches that sat so close to the beaten and broken wall. Our belongings, luckily, were saved from any kind of injury thanks to the sppedy rescue of me, Melissa, and the wonderful friend who came to do hw and got to witness everything, Marissa. Here are some pictures to entertain...
This is the aftermath... the water had finally stopped and our apartment was SOAKED!
Here are some more pictures. puddles!

needless to say... we moved out that night. yes... all of our things! We are lucky enough to have some really really really good friends who came over to help us move ALL of our belongings. We moved to the apartment next door, #411. The apartment where information is made. We love it though. Many of the things that did not work well in our old apartment actually work here! The only downfall... no hot water all weekend! we have been mooching hot water off of our neighbors upstairs. Those girls saved us from looking like complete homeless people all weekend. So, overall, this has been a blessing in disguise. We have really come to discover that things happen for a reason. We definitely bonded with each other and we have had so much fun "re-decorating" literally. haha. We have been laughing about the whole situation and it has been great to trick friends and invite them over to our place only to find out we no longer live there!! But really, I am happy and even though things sometimes dont go as planned and I get ulcers in my eyes and my apartment floods when I have thesis proposals due the next morning, life is still wonderful and there are so many other blessings that come from the trials in my life. Just cant wait to find out the blessings to come!!
