Do you think....

I will look as hot as Doris Day when I am a teacher?
Today was my first day of my second clinical experience. Make sense? Well, I loved it. I have to admit. I thought I would hate it. Ever since I knew I wanted to be a teacher I told myself I would never teach middle school. Why you ask? oh... I remember middle school. All the children are going through hormonal chemical imbalances and they are confused about pretty much everything that is going on in their little worlds! Why on earth would I ever WANT to teach those little hellians??

Then... I walked into Cedar Ridge Middle School.

My eyes have been opened to a whole new world of pre-pubescent children. These students are not just there to terrorize teachers and throw younger kids into lockers. They are actually at school to LEARN. What??? Learn? I've come to the conclusion that these kids are a special breed. Whatever Hyde Park has in their water... it is working. The school is plastered with art work and science projects the kids have discovered for themselves. The walls are proof that these students are smart and excited about learning! From how far you could jump if you were a frog to how strong you would be if you were an ant... the students at this school show off their knowledge, and most of all... they respect their teachers. The teachers all display the book that they are reading for the month at the entrance of their classroom and every day they have a reading time set aside for everyone in the school to take out a book and read for 15 minutes. This hardly seems like enough time, but this is a huge improvement compared to other schools.

This middle school has made me think twice about my preconceived notions of middle school students. I feel like I wouldn't mind so much teaching these kids that I prejudged. Maybe middle school wouldn't be so bad after all... maybe?

Good luck! I remember middle school too and we were never nice to subs or student teachers, and so you know Cedar Ridge is where I went! (Also my little bro Tyler, he's in 6th grade now)
And don't worry I'm sure you'll make a very hot teacher :)
