There are certain types of laughter that everyone has. There is the pity laugh. We have all experienced this before, and most likely it happens every day. The one where you arent really sure if it is funny or not so you just "kind of" laugh. It is forced and can, at times, be uncomfortable. However, we all know it is a pity laugh, but we do it anyway. There is the "I cant breath this is so funny" laugh. This kind of laugh happens when you really think something is hilarious and it makes you laugh so hard and for so long that you forget to keep breathing and as you are gasping for air your friends start laughing at you which makes you laugh even more and the cycle continues until your abs start to hurt. Similar to the "I can't breath" laughter, there is the "silent, but funny" laugh. This is similar to the non breathing laugh because it is funny, and you are laughing... but nothing is coming out. Then there are the criers. My mother falls under this category because anytime we make her laugh, she starts crying... we are never really sure if she is sad or happy (because she kind of has a silent laugh at times as well as the crying laugh) and we realize once she takes a breath that she is indeed enjoying the moment and is laughing so hard that tears are streaming down her face. I really enjoy this laugh because it is so fun to watch someone laughing so hard that they begin to cry. This laugh is most common among women* The most common laugh among men would be known as the chuckle. Women can also chuckle, but I would say it doesnt happen as often as it does with men. The chuckle is a big hearty laugh that echoes throughout the room whenever they are taken into amusement. The chuckle for the man is like the cry for the woman. It means that you have sincerely made them laugh and they cant help but let out a great big chuckle. Another form of sincere laughter is the snort. This is an embarassing form of laughter and is difficult to control, but always brings the room into smiles. Another form of laughter is the giggle. This is often common around teenage girls when they are talking about the cutest boys in school. However, only few have ever heard the most incredible laugh of all, the honk. The honk is an uncommon form of laughter that happens whenever the person has lost control of their laughter, similar to the snort. This is my most uncontrollable laugh. I do not laugh like this all the time, but when I do I sound like a goose and cannot help it. I blame it on a childhood injury, but I really doubt that the reason I honk when I laugh is because of that minor surgury as a child. The honk is a blessing that only those rich in hilarity have the duty of bearing. As embarassing as it is, I find that most people find it absolutely breathtaking and wish that they could be blessed with the honk as well, but like I said, only a select few are called in this life to share the wonderful honk that comes from a full and true laughter. I honk.

* I do not really know if this is only common among women, but being the natural bearer of emotions, I assumed that women bear the cross of tears from laughter moreso than men do.

Ha, I love it! I even laughed, out loud too.
I've been told I pity laugh a lot.... I guess I'm just in a lot of situations when there's nothing else to do but sort of laugh, out of awkwardness mostly I think.
I miss you Osterloh! I hope you're having a good summer so far. Sawyer and I have just been shopping way too much and playing in the pool, it's been a nice break for us :) I hope to be commenting again soon!
